Grafton Street

Grafton Street is one of the two principal shopping streets in Dublin, the other being Henry Street, and is widely regarded as the city’s most famous pedestrianised thoroughfare. Located on Dublin’s south side, between Trinity College and St Stephen’s Green, it sits at the very heart of the city centre and is a must-visit destination for visitors.

Renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, Grafton Street offers a wide variety of shops, from internationally recognised brands to iconic Irish retailers. One of Dublin’s most famous department stores, Brown Thomas, is located here and showcases an extensive range of luxury designer brands, both Irish and international. Other major department stores on the street include Dunnes Stores and Marks & Spencer.

The street is also home to a broad mix of popular high-street and designer brands such as Ted Baker, Lululemon, BOSS, River Island, Pandora, Burberry, Gucci, Russell & Bromley, Levi’s, and many more. For gifts and Irish souvenirs, visitors will find Dubray Books, The Body Shop, Carroll’s Irish Gifts, and some of Dublin’s most prestigious jewellers, including Weir & Sons, Tiffany & Co., and Appleby Jewellers.

At the St Stephen’s Green end of the street lies the St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, which features over 100 outlets and offers additional shopping options alongside cafés and restaurants — making it a great place to pause for refreshments during a day in the city.

Grafton Street also caters well for dining, whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a more relaxed lunch. Options range from familiar fast-food favourites such as McDonald’s and Burger King, to one of Dublin’s most beloved institutions, Bewley’s Café, which has been serving customers since 1927.

Adding to the street’s unique character are the many buskers and street performers who regularly entertain passers-by. Musicians, poets, and mime artists contribute to the lively atmosphere, and Grafton Street has famously been a starting point for several well-known Irish musicians, including Glen Hansard, Damien Rice, Paddy Casey, and The Script.

With its mix of shopping, dining, live music, and central location, Grafton Street offers an authentic snapshot of Dublin city life and remains one of the capital’s most iconic streets.
